Its been a very long time, but I have decided on yet another shift in traditional tools – dropping Chrome in favor of Mozilla/Firefox. I recall way back in my college days, Firefox was the upstart browser compared to Internet Explorer (along with Opera), but never clicked with me. After college, I used Internet Explorer for a long time, before finally jumping over to Chrome perhaps 20+ years ago. And Chrome has always worked well – with a good set of tools and addons, and without the bloat and slowness that IE was always troubled with. Although the newer Edge browser is an improvement, in my view Microsoft has always been a bit behind the curve.
However, in recent months, even Chrome has started to show its age, between growing a bit slower, and having an increasing number of problems with different websites. It is entirely possible much of this is my own settings and not a browser issue, but I am less inclined to fix the config than I am just to load an alternative that works.
Thus as of today I am a Mozilla user, having migrated the same extensions, bookmarks, and cookies over to the (much more cooperative) browser. So far, all the problems I have had with Chrome are non-existent with Mozilla. I will wait to see if that continues or not, thus far I am rather comfortable in the new home.
