I was distracted last night, and forgot to post my regular note, so here is a make up one 🙂 While I am travelling this week, I have been pushing the 3d Printer to run non-stop again, continuing to produce the True-Tiles (thanks to my wife for removing parts and cleaning the tray as they finish). After the last session, I realized I still had a bit to go, to make sure I have enough pieces to fill out whatever room the group goes into. There isn’t any particular pieces that are missing, more of a general total count. However, since I could continue printing random pieces for the next several weeks, I am trying to come up with a general plan and inventory of a good overall combination.
My thought is that the simplest count is the corners – rooms need at least 4, and rarely more than 8 for strange curves. Similar logic for curved sections and angled walls – I need a few, but not a large number.
The field tiles and single wall sections are the most numerous – the more of those, the larger the room can be. And with my adjusted 4×4 tile, I don’t need quite as many 2×2 sections. However, large rooms require a significant number of these otherwise clear pieces, a 50’x50′ room would need 16 2×2 tiles (plus the outer walls). So most of my focus has been on increasing these pieces.
If you have any thoughts on an inventory mix – how many pieces do you print, or which pieces end up being more or less common, I would love to hear your feedback.
I am eager to get past the basic floor tiles, and into the decorative scenery pieces. My group loved the presence of the columns in the last session, so more pieces like that are a bit more exciting than just another 10′ square.
