So we tried again this weekend, and again had to end up cancelling the plan game due to scheduling difficulties. The good news is that the system is very workable, and seems very solid for the intended storyline. Unfortunately, real life is just too much of a plan changer to reliably maintain the game. As a result, we have opted to abandon the game, and switch to a more free-form tabletop session instead. In theory, this could be any single day RPG and/or various board and strategy game. In particular, I would really like to start regularly playing Armada again. As an alternative this particular time, we filled in with a game of Zombicide: Black Plague, re-attempting Quest 2. Previously, that mission had ended in failure, with the group becoming overwhelmed by an early Abomination. This time, the group worked well together, the Abomination was late, and we succeeded at the overall quest with no deaths. In truth, we ended with everyone at full health, thanks to the early discovery of a healing enchantment and frequent use of the item.
In two weeks, the plan is to hold an Armada game, with one side preparing a Rebel fleet to face off against George and myself with a new Imperial fleet. It has been several months since we have played, so hopefully we still remember much of our strategy and tactics.
