Last year, as part of our local tabletop group, we held our first Magic: The Gathering Tournament – a small affair of local players and friends. It was rather informal, and admittedly almost no one even knew how to play, but we had a good turn out with about 16 players. Everyone had a great time, and at the end, my son managed to pull out the overall win. The prize at the time was booster packs, since this effort had neither budget or options for much else.
This year, we are planning the same thing, as our second annual competition, and I am ramping up my effort a bit. Not only are we starting the planning a bit earlier, but with my 3d printer, I am working on a trophy to give to the winner. The image here is a mock-up in 3d, it will remain to be seen how well the final product will print. I can’t take credit for the main modeling itself, it is based on the excellent model by Printable Scenery, at PrintableScenery.com. However, with minimal TinkerCAD experience, I was able to add the words needed.
Right now, I am working on printing a draft version, which if successful will be a belated trophy for last year. With that success, I can then reprint the model for 2018, and my intention is to apply paint and additional details. Will post as the project progresses, but I have high hopes at this point.
