In preparation for Boy Scout summer camp with my son next week, I managed to mark off a bucket list item, and decided to dye my hair. For years, I have wanted to try out a crazy or unnatural color, both to be fun, and to be a bit rebellious. However, with my work schedule, and the frequent time in an office, I also needed to maintain a certain level of professionalism. In truth, working in computer support, I doubt anyone would really care – most of the concern is superficial and self-conscious, but there was always the hesitation. This year however my in-office schedule is significantly reduced, so I had a rare opportunity.
My son opted for a blue color, consistent across the top, but I wanted something with a bit more contrast. His hair is also a lot shorter, so his options are more limited. Final result I am rather happy with. The dye is semi-permanent, and should last (though fade) at least until my next cut in 6 weeks. And depending on the specific direction the hair lays, the stripes are more or less defined. Unfortunately, it does make the grey stand out a bit stronger.
As a side benefit, it coincidentally works well with the start of our Shadowrun campaign on Friday.
