In our latest session, the group continued the mystery of the dwarven Vekker brothers, and what fate they found some 70 years prior in the mountains. Previously, they had discovered the lost mining base station, which was inhabited by ghosts and spirits, and had fallen into the hunting ground of a wendigo. This time, with some creative uses of spells, they managed to get enough information to track down the body of one of the brothers, upon the request of the spirit of the other brother. Long ago, the dwarves had given in to cannibalism, and had fell to the curse of the wendigo. Now one of the brothers soul was unsettled, his body lost in the mountain where he had finally died.
With the limited information, the group set out to find the bones and return with them, and managed to be rather successful. Despite being several players down (we still had 6), and then separating due to the specific location, they were successful. Admittedly, the barbarian was the only one to initially face the guardians of the bones, a corrupted ice wyrm and the spirit of the brother himself, and after the bulk of the campaign, finally knew fear as he fled from the mountain top. Racing back to the group, they faced down the angry spirit while perched on a narrow icy ledge, overlooking a deep chasm, but were ultimately successful. With a quick teleport, the bones were back at the mining lodge.
There, the spirits of the brothers began a supernatural contest of wills – the one who died at the cabin fighting for salvation while the cursed brother fighting for dominance. The group, unsure of how to interfere, quickly had their own challenge, as the wendigo which had been hunting them launched an attack on the cabin itself as well. Unfortunately, we ended on this cliffhanger (mountain jokes), as we ran out of time.
