Spent the weekend working on a project for the living room, crafting a coffee table and crafting workstation for the wife. Definitely not heirloom quality furniture, but functional and very sturdy. It still needs a bit more work – the top needs to be sanded, painted and actually attached, but it is otherwise complete.
Total project time was about 6 hours, plus numerous hours hauling tools in and out, setting up and tearing down my workspace. Unfortunately, since I have no workshop, the tools are stored elsewhere in a locker, and my work space is outdoors. Both tend to severely limit both my productivity, and schedule.
The surface is 40 inches long, 22 inches wide, with a height of 20 inches (as specifically requested). Total material cost ran about $40, and the material is all common pine from the big box stores. I have pocket holes for most of the joinery, with glue and screws for the top. Using a tip from YouTube, I rounded off the bottom of the legs to help avoid splits and tears over time.
