Finished a fairly massive print today of an Imperial Turbo Laser Tower, scaled for Star Wars: Legion. This was actually my second attempt at the main tower piece – the first one ended up running my spool of filament dry at about 98%. Total print time was 3 hours and 40 minutes for the top two pieces (the tower top, and barrels), and another 14 hours and 49 minutes for the base section. All pieces printed with 0.2 mm layer heights and 10% infill. As before, an unpainted Stormtrooper for scale.
There is some rather obvious ghosting on the sides and corners – very evident if you look closely (and they show up in the photo), but from a short distance they are not an issue. It was a reasonable compromise in my mind for the relative speed of the model.
Other than perhaps some basic highlights or details, I don’t really think it needs much in the way of painting – the grey tends to be nice and neutral. I am thinking I will try to attach the top with magnets however, which would allow it to rotate as needed. Sadly, the barrels are fixed – the model did not have any options for shifting.
