The group has engaged the enemy, by bringing the fight directly to Karzoug, in his citadel high a top Mhar Massif. This is the final challenge of the campaign – penetrate the tower, and bring an end to the threat of Karzoug and the Runelords. The group seems rather eager, and well prepared – they are finally level 17 (will be 18 at the final battle), but the city of giants and threats below has been mobilized to stop the attack, and the tower is populated with Karzoug’s most trusted and strongest allies.
For the group, the challenge is to pace themselves, and defeat Karzoug and his minions within a single day – no option for rest or recovery of resources – it is do or die at this stage. Although they had options previously, the location and defenses have all but eliminated their options to hide and sleep, and the army of giants approaching makes any such options hazardous.
Now the group needs to survive the guardians, and solve the puzzles and challenges of such an ancient foe. All before they are caught, or the ancient power re-emerges into the world.
