After several months, it appears that WordPress 5 is finally rolling out on my hosting provider – this posting was written in the new block format of the tools. I was rather nervous about the upgrade, upgrades typically bring along broken links, lost images, and other issues. It also has a tendency to take quite a while, meaning the site is offline. This time however, it (so far) has gone very well and very smoothly. The update was all of 2 minutes, and so far nothing appears to be broken. I had proactively taken a backup of the prior site, just in case, but that seems to have taken a lot longer than the actual upgrade itself.
By all means, if you spot anything broken, let me know so I can work to fix it.
