The end is near for our ongoing Rise of the Runelords campaign, and yet, Karzoug continues to reach from his mountain perch and delay the group. In the most recent challenges, he summoned a snow storm that caused the cancellation of our latest game. Originally, we postponed until the following session, but we have several conflicts (and potentially more snow coming), so right now it looks like it will be February 3 before we can wrap up the storyline. I know the group is eager, and I am looking forward to pulling out all the villains tricks.
In the meantime, this gives me more opening to finish several projects. First is a dice case I am 3d printing for each of the players of the campaign. The printer always seems finicky when I reach the end of a roll of filament, and this last time was no exception – the nozzle even developed a leak which I had to figure out and fix. All in printing well for now though, so I am back on schedule.
I also need to give some thought to our next game and storyline. As a group, we are all eager to try out Pathfinder 2nd edition, but that will not be available until August. So we need something to hold us over for the spring and summer months. Of course, we can do more Pathfinder, but I am curious to try out a few other systems with the group. The challenge of course is finding something that can be taught to 10 players in a relatively short period of time.
Currently, I am leaning towards the old West End Games version of Star Wars. The group is all a fan of the movies, and that particular version always impressed me with the simplicity of the characters, while still maintaining the depth and options. But by the time it becomes relevent, I may be on to some other alternatives.
