With our upcoming new season of Pathfinder (campaign still to be decided), I am having all the players create their own characters. Now that they are veterans, they get to make all the decisions that I had previously made on their behalf (mainly due to the size of the group). Our first session, scheduled for this coming Sunday, will be finalizing character choices and at least a short start to the storyline.
First up, we have my youngest son Ben, and his choice of a Dwarven Fighter, known to his companions as Pokey Darkstrike. Admittedly Ben is a novice and new player to the game, so I will be helping him a bit more than the others, and this is reflected in his rather straightforward choices of character. When we started the last campaign, he was too young to play, now he is at a good age to get started and was rather eager to do so.
Not sure which of the figures he will end up using – he is still undecided – but he was sure he wanted to play a dwarf who could get up front and deal some damage. Technically, these are dwarf barbarian figures, but they serve equally well as fighters, and Ben liked the overly rough look to them. Skills and options are basic, weapon focus for his dwarven waraxe, and power-strike to add some damage. He caught on to the mechanics quickly though, and rather intelligently chose an extra HP instead of an extra skill point as his favored class bonus, since he expects to take a bit of a beating.
