As we continue our adventures in the Atlas online game, the server we currently play on suffered a catastrophic outage. In the process of updating maps and islands, the entire save file was corrupted, meaning it was effectively an unexpected progress wipe.
Not really a big deal, gave us a chance to clean out the inventory and start fresh. And with the temporarily boosted xp and harvesting, after only a couple of days we were back to our prior level. Ships may be a bit less numerous, but hardly notice the loss of everything else.
In the meantime, the server admin published an updated world map, which I then used Photoshop to fancy up a bit. Added island names, notable locations, and grid coordinates – all of which are useful but not easily visible in game.
Our particular little town is in A2, on a sand bar in the bay of The Quiet Reef. Lots of deep water, plenty of resources, and few neighbors. Plus close to the new deep-water trench content, that caused the overall outage.
