With our most recent session, the group continued their exploration of the Kamelands, and managed a bit of success. We first concluded the battle against the bandit camp – unfortunately the Sorcerer was lost when the group was unable to stop his slaying after the group as a whole decided against surrendering. However, that provided them the motivation to emerge victorious against the bandits as a whole, ultimately winning the battle.
With the surviving bandits in tow, they returned to Oleg’s outpost to claim their rewards and sell of their winnings. Mysteriously though, during the journey, someone or something crept into the camp at night, and each of the bandits where killed. Since the group had opted to wait to question them until they returned to town, this eliminated the possibility of any information that they might be able to gain. On the positive side, it also saved quite a few rations having to feed the prisoners.
With their rewards in hand, the group now has some surplus funds. The re-stocked their supplies, and then went west to search the plains along the large forest. This was mostly empty though, the only discovery being a lost burial mound out in the grasslands, which the group marked for later exploration. On the return trip thru the forest however, they managed to locate the grounds of the lost temple of Erastil, now occupied by a large and dangerous grizzly bear.
As the explored the grounds, the bear charged forth and engaged the group. Its paw strikes were powerful, nearly felling the dwarf in a single round, and then it grabbed hold of the monk in a deadly bear hug. Fortunately, the combined efforts of the group and a solid critical hit from the dwarf where enough to defeat the beast. As it died, it transformed first into an old man, and then rapidly decayed and faded into dust. With its death, the curse over the temple was lifted, and the gardens returned to their more natural state.
The group again returned to Oleg’s to re-stock, and claim some additional rewards. With their gains, they were able to purchase a round of horses for their next trip, which not only would make the travel much faster, but also allow for more rations and equipment to be carried as the explore further south.
