Been working on our latest game session, trying to wrangle the various video streams and audio. My template from the last game is helping a lot, and I think in general I have the overall order of operation sorted out. In addition, I believe I have sorted out the issue with audio synchronization to video – cell phones and GoPros record in variable frame rate. As such, those need to be pre-converted to a constant frame rate in order for Premiere Pro to understand them cleanly. Technically, variables rates are “supported”, but for whatever reason, they don’t work for me.
So after an extra night of pre-processing, I have all source material in the proper frame rate of 29.97, with passable audio for synchronizing to each other. And I have several better, if not finalized angles for the cameras.
My challenge though is fine tuning the synchronization, to make sure that any movements are lined up properly. From there, I should be able to synchronize one master audio track, and then start actually editing for content. Given the various video streams and complexities I am building for myself, this is a challenge to sort out. In theory, this front work will make later video efforts go that much smoother as well.
