As highlighted in our recent gaming videos, we use a collection of 3d printed True Tiles, based on models available from Hero’s Hoard. The basic model has been altered with some external designs, to include magnets in the base frame, while the surface is the same. The problem in the past has been that the number of tiles I had made it challenging to finish painting.
No longer – after another batch painting session, I now have my full collection (minus one tile that slipped thru) painted and game ready. I also printed and painted a number of scatter terrain pieces (unrelated to True Tiles).
Although our last session was shortened, we did use the tiles during the session, which is much nicer since there were no longer any basic flat gray tiles. Combine these with the player group’s painted figures, and the battlefield is starting to look pretty detailed.
Of course, we are still using cardboard for creatures, but some compromises have to be made for the variability in NPCs
