Over the last couple of years, I have slowly collected a number of different 3d printing filaments, primarily in PLA. For the most part, those have been stored in various boxes, but that makes it difficult to remember what I have, and to (more importantly) actually use it.
With the recent office remodel, I opted to bring them out of the boxes, and make the spools accessible. A couple of printed brackets later, and a strong wooden dowel, and I have a solid filament rack above the printer. Admittedly it is a bit higher than I would have preferred, but this allows it to stay out of the sunlight, and still be usable.
One concern is that moisture will be absorbed by the exposed spools – that is a concern, but I honestly doubt my printing efforts will be impacted that much. The house is not normally very humid, and my intent is to try to use up the material, rather than just let it linger.
Currently, I am working thru the roll of black Hatchbox PLA, but then will probably swap over to the gold and bronze colors next. Blue is actually a heat-sensitive PLA, and the Red is a NinjaFlex roll we acquired early on (and is very troublesome to print with).
