In my ongoing effort to 3d print terrain for gaming, I am continuing to evolve the previous tower project. I was able to print all of the files, enough to assemble a piece-meal tower with component parts – all of which fit well and had good quality. That was shortly before the holidays, and my printer upgrade.
However, about half-way thru that project, I decided that it would be more practical to combine all the pieces in software, into a single solid assembly. Since I really have no plans of disassembling the pieces, a single solid model makes just as much sense. And the parts would hold together better compared to the various clips.
Having already finished the component build, I still plan on gluing the pieces together before painting, but in the meantime I am starting the printing of the pre-assembled floors. Fortunately, with the Prusa MK3, the print reliability is far better, and I am confident it can complete without major issues.
Total print time is estimated at 18.5 hours, with a 10% infill and 0.15mm layer height, for a total estimate of 168g of PLA. Remains to be seen just how accurate those estimates are from Simplify3d.
