For our ongoing gaming activities, we will be doing a bit of a location shift over the next couple of weeks, moving the location where we gather for the Age of Ashes campaign.
Currently, we meet bi-weekly at a local church where my kids are also active in Scouting. For the most part, this has worked well, the church is rather welcoming, and we have never had any issues – except for the occasional and understandable scheduling conflict. However, given the remote location it also means I have a lot of extra time involved to set up and tear down all of the video equipment for our recordings – about two hours extra every week. And occasionally something is forgotten or lost 🙂
With the permission of the in-laws (and our appreciation), we are going to relocate to the basement of their home – a spot which is otherwise unused almost entirely. This is certainly the “traditional” location (basement of the parents) for RPG games, though for me it is more practical than that. At that location, I can leave all the gear and table set up long term, which means we can start and stop the games as needed without delay. All I need to transport is the media cards with the footage at that point (and not forget them).
My thanks to the in-laws for their support, and willingness to put up with our overly large crowd. Our first game in the new location will be on March 8, for the second episode of Chapter 2 of the Age of Ashes.
In the event of issues, we will likely fall back to the original church location, which will also remain for the other gaming activities.
