A shout-out to a particularly good Android app for Pathfinder 2e character creation, management, and printing – the Pathbuilder 2e app. With our numerous games, and a number of changes to get adjusted to, this tool has turned out to be invaluable. It does unfortunately only run on Android (no Windows, Mac, or iOS versions), but it runs very well.
The developer is quick to add new content, and new features, and from what I can tell, has all current content already included. Once your character is designed, you also have the option to export the file as a form-fillable PDF, to print or manage offline.
Best of all, the app is mostly functional without cost (with adds, and some advanced features disabled), so it is readily available for anyone to try out. To unlock the last features, and disable the adds, it is only $5, a cost I was more than willing to donate as we started to use it extensively.
In comparison – my prior first choice is Hero Lab online. We used Hero Lab for first edition, and paid the incremental costs for each expansion book. In the end, the investment was in the hundreds. With Hero Lab Online, and 2nd edition, this pricing model continues (pay for each book), plus they tack on a small monthly fee for hosting – and thus far there is no offline version. Yes, it is professional, and can easily handle the characters, and works on any browser, but for the cost, it just isn’t worth the investment for our group (where each person would require the full license officially – yes, I know there are ways to trim that cost somewhat).
