Side project I have been working on is a clear marker for who is holding the light in RPG groups. Commonly, we have found that we forget about light, and have difficulty with the group remembering where the light is, during a game session. Sometimes this isn’t important, but many times it can play a big part in the current scenario.
In the past, we tried to just remember – but that was hit and miss at best. With the shrinking of electronics however these days, my concept is to use a small LED light and a button cell battery, attached to the player, to actually represent the light.
During our latest Age of Ashes session, I presented the first prototype, using a votive candle LED (which actually flickered and blinked). That worked, but was a bit oversized and bulky. Worse, the assembly broke just before we played, so we had to add tape as a quick fix.
Since then, I am fine tuning the design, and acquired much smaller LEDs. I am hoping by next week I can finalize the design enough to craft several for use during the game.
