I tend to not post much about my professional work, mainly because it has little to do with my hobby efforts. Jokingly, until my YouTube career truly takes off, and my hobby and work align in harmony (which realistically may never happen), the two are mutually exclusive.
However, recent events have caused an increased load from the work side, as the current support contract continues to expand in scope and responsibility. My current boss for the last few years decided to retire, and after a bit of interviewing and discussion, I have stepped into the role. This brings with it a new layer of challenge and responsibility, and a different level of commitment. In concept, it hopefully also brings a difference in compensation.
However, until I can find a replacement for my current role, it also brings a requirement to cover both positions at the same time – effectively doubling my work load. Couple that with ongoing work challenges and difficulties due to Covid, a recent signing of a major new support contract (and associated redesign of the client’s environment), and our project to build and move into a new home, and my available free time becomes few and far between.
In an effort to resume my normal hobby efforts, I am now pre-writing many of these posts, allowing me to do so on the weekend when I have the most time. My gaming schedule is reduced (mainly due to Covid) to bi-weekly games only. And my other hobby efforts are hit and miss at best, with a number of 3d printed projects sitting on standby until things begin to quiet down.
Which likely wont be until November or December, once the transition wraps up, and the holidays start to roll in. Fingers crossed life will return to some sense of sanity at that stage.
