With my newly painted army, I remembered to take a few pictures of our table and terrain during our first battle. Ended up forgetting to go further after the first couple of turns, but at least I got what I did.
The scenario was Recover the Supplies, which really turned into “meatgrinder”, with both sides fighting to the last man. The droids moved in on the side, trying to take the center point against the Empire, with both forces deploying their heavy armor on opposite ends of the field.
However, the droids were a big disorganized, and scattered, resulting in most of their units moving up piecemeal into the center. This resulting in drawing a lot of fire, to which the droids had minimal defense. Fairly early in the fight, the Imperial AT-ST added its firepower, leaving very few B1s operational.
On the side, the AAT managed to prevent the Empire from escaping with one of the objectives, but allowed itself to take significant damage from the Stormtrooper rocket launcher. Without proper weapons, it proved to be a poor match for the AT-ST, and fell rapidly to that machine late in the game.
The most notable heroes of the Separatists were Dooku and Grievous as a matched pair. Although Grievous ultimately gave him life, he managed to get into the middle of the Empire and distract and damage them enough for Dooku to arrive. Emperor Palpatine obliterated the droid commander, but this left him weak and vulnerable to the Sith Master, who managed to reach and slay the Emperor. It was rather humorous, Palpatine had enough suppression that he would have fled the board, if only he had remained alive.
