Part of the challenge I have given all of the players for our upcoming campaign is to provide a painted, character appropriate miniature, and to consider their particular relationship to the initiator NPC of the campaign, Professor Petros Lorrimor. For this background, they can simply know their story, or optionally, provide a written background. I have been rather curious not only to see all the characters, but to understand how their particular hero fits into the world – a GM of the story can only be so creative. For those willing, I am going to post their backgrounds for public review, as I am able prior to the campaign.
Our first to be completed is Tespa of Hank, a Catfolk Cleric of Sarenrae:
Tespa of Hank is a Qittaj Amurran from eastern Qadira. She is in her late teens and was raised in a large extended family. Her father, Hank, and his family are from a long line of skilled hunters and trackers. Her maternal grandmother, Zathra, was a leader of her community and a spellcaster.
Zathra was a devout follower of Sarenrae and a gifted healer. The day before Zathra’s death she asked Tespa to seek out Professor Petros Lorrimor and told her that it was “very important” for her to find him. Tespa doesn’t know the extent of the Professor’s relationship with her grandmother but Zathra had a sparkle in her green eyes when she spoke of him.
Tespa is much like her beloved grandmother. She abhors evil abominations who spoil natural places and she has a strong urge to share her devotion of Sarenrae with others. Tespa has green eyes, striped orange fur and fuzzy ears. She inherited her grandmother’s favorite bracelet.

I find it inspiring that the motivation of the character is unique – they are not driven by grief or revenge, but rather a mystery presented by their parent. This gives me as the GM plenty of options for how to play that detail out, especially given the circumstances around the start of the story.
