The next of the collection left behind by Professor Lorrimor is a book entitled On Verified Madness, a tome bound and published by a Theophilus Wenn, In the adventure, it is described as a “jet-black book that is a treatise on abberations and other entities found on Golarion that possess remote ties to the Dark Tapestry, the name given to the dark places between the stars in the night sky”. However, a black book is rather dull, dealing with the interdimensional nature of the contents, so we opted for a more colorful, iridescent cloth for the cover.
The book itself is intended as a Bestiary of sorts for various high-end extra-dimensional creatures, detailing the history, backgrounds, powers, etc. of each. It includes details on approximately a dozen or so of these creature, many of which are common to the Cthulhu mythos. For our content, we utilized Bestiary entries from creatures from both 2nd and 1st edition Pathfinder – it is literally an in-character Bestiary for the group to reference.
For each creature, there are about 4 pages of text, along with a black and white version of any graphics for the creature itself. The pages were printed, and then aged with tea, after tearing the side consistently. The prop-master then stitched and bound the book into a legitimate item, then covered it with the fancy cloth. When completed, it has the appearance of an old style, but very functional, reading book.
As to the content – it is unknown to the group at this time as to if these particular creature will or will not make an appearance. Certainly some of the more horrific ones hopefully will not, and when some of the monsters do appear, can the group recognise them?
