Decided to get a bit more complex on the Speeder truck, and paint specific sections and stripes. Using some tape, I was able to block off several key sections, then highlight them with paint using a piece of sponge. Opted for complementary colors – some dark green (Army Painter Elf Green), black, and a bright yellow, making each section distinctive, while still blending into the general color scheme. With the top piece, the pattern continues over, to keep it seamless.
Following this layer, I finished out a few of the minor details – really just re-applying Black Templar is key locations and attaching the extra Gonk Droid miniature I had prepared. Technically the roof is not attached, but it is plenty tight enough to basically be. I added a few rocks and tufts around the base after a spray of matt sealant, and then dropped the windshield into the front. At that point, the overall model was complete.
It also finished up my specific skirmish force – all figures painted, based, and sealed. Other than collecting a few tokens, I am otherwise ready for the competition.
Will post a few final, pre-battle photos tomorrow, before everything is stored away for the first battles.
