Finally had a chance to take a complete photo of my competition team, all shiny and freshly painted. Referencing the army list I shared previously, I managed to go thru and paint up most of my rebels, including about twice as many of the troopers as required. This force is all set for the competition, which starts at our local gaming store on Saturday.
Leading the army is of course Jyn Erso, perhaps a bit more unusual choice given options of more famous heroes and jedi, but one that fits into my general theme. And most straight forward, was inexpensive enough for the 500 point limit. Jyn is outfitted with Inspiring Presence and Situational Awareness, to aid her troopers and try to avoid being shot. Sidearm is the A-180 Pistol/Rifle combo, as a solid but basic attack option.
The bulk of the force is a pair of Rebel Trooper units (each with an MPL-57 Ion Trooper and extra Rebel Trooper) and a single Rebel Veteran squad (with Offensive Push, an R5 Astromech Droid, and a CM-0/93 Trooper). These provide the staying power and ability to capture objectives. The Ion guns are mainly in case of enemy vehicles or droids, and the R5 is for support of the A-A5 Speeder truck to help keep it alive.
Supporting from range is a single Rebel Commando Strike Team, armed with a DH-447 Sniper rifle. This should provide some covering fire, and potentially take out any high value targets, while staying semi-safe behind the front lines.
The final contribution is of course the big A-A5 Speeder Truck, the anchor of the force. Intended as a mobile bunker and heavy offense, it is armed with an AG-2G Quad Laser for some heavy, consistent fire. A Refurbished Gonk Droid provides a layer of recoverable shielding, and a Hotshot Pilot grants a bit of improved accuracy. Finally, it is equipped with an Unorthodox Tactician, provided a bit of unpredictability in the form of bonus aim tokens.
Stay tuned for updates – our first combat is with the CIS Droids.
