Started the skirmish league this weekend, which was a lot of fun. Both my son and I managed to get a game in, and conveniently play at the same time against new competitors. In my case, it was Rebels vs CIS, George was playing Clones vs Rebels.
For my game, the Rebels held their own and ended up with a slight loss. The game came down to points with an Elimination mission, both sides with 4 units killed. Ultimately, the Droids were victorious by a margin of only 20 points. However, after the game I realized that the Droid army may have been technically illegal. Officially, an HQ pick is required – however the Droid’s were led only by an AAT tank with a Field Commander upgrade. At the time, I didn’t spot it, and the judge didn’t either, so in my mind the results stand. I do think however it would have been material to the result, had it been a factor.
For the other fight, the Clones edged out a slight victory as well. Again, the Contested Locations mission came down to points, with equal scoring on both sides. In this case however the Clones had managed a slight advantage having not actually lost any full squads. The Rebels however had sacrificed both a unit of Wookies and a unit of Tauntauns in their press for the board’s center.
Next round is coming up this weekend, and at this point I am not seeing any need to change my current force. I was very happy with the combination of the A-A5 Speeder and its coordination with the various units, and have a bit better perspective on my tactics for the next game.
