Another week, another couple of games scheduled. Unfortunately, my competitor has been unavailable, so it looks like the game will likely not happen (or happen much later). George however was able to play again, facing off against a CIS droid force. This is an army I had fought previously, not modified for less tank, and more spider-droids.
Mission was a standard control objective, with heavy cover. As expected, the clone ball stayed very defensive and resistant, but unfortunately were not able to move forward. The droids overwhelmed them purely from numbers – just too many units and figures to be cleared out quickly with the limited clone guns. Battle ended with a CIS victory.
At the same time, my youngest and I ran another practice game, with his Imperials vs my Rebel force. His tactics were much stronger this time, and it really came down to positioning (and a few lucky rolls on my part). The Rebels were victorious again, but it ran the full 5 turns this time, and could have broken either way near then end. The Empire AT-ST was particularly strong, absorbing a significant amount of fire power and eliminating many rebels.
This time I actually remembered to take a couple of snapshots, to highlight not only the terrain, but the fairly well painted models.
