Another weekend, another round of our Legion Skirmish competition. Admittedly, we are still playing catch up games, having gotten a bit delayed in the scheduling. This upcoming weekend sees our 7th and final games, which will conclude this particular league effort. And free up a bit of time for other efforts.
This time was a bit different, we both ended up playing the same opposing army, with a force of Empire troops. The enemy army had a fully outfitted AT-ST and a unit of flame snowtroopers, plus a number of other miscellaneous stormtroopers lead by only a Field Commander upgrade on the AT-ST.
George went first and managed a solid victory with his clone force. Although the AT-ST was undamaged, he rather systematically dismantled the rest of the force. Obi-Wan was defeated near the end, but not before the clones had thoroughly controlled and dominated the Control point in the center of the board.
My first game was against my son again, who continue to improve with his Empire force. He has swapped out the AT-ST for the Imperial tank, and fairly heavily controlled his end of the board. His tackle mistake ended up being a splitting of his forces though, with the tank in the middle. As he focused on my infantry, the speeder truck came up on the side. This caused it to swing back to fire at the speeder, opening it up to an infantry assault. With the extra impact from the side attacks, it quickly found itself damaged and unable to move significantly. Worse, although Veers had managed to get into a scoring position, he completely abandoned his own forces, allowing several of the stormtroopers to panic and break from the field.
For the second game, actually for competition credit, the battle was quite a bit closer. Jyn gave herself in a heroic charge into the advancing troopers, but was ultimately killed. The rest of the rebels held their own, the blasts from the AT-ST killing most of each squad that was attacked, but leaving the leaders. When the Imperial snowtroopers panicked and ran, it gave me a numerical advantage, resulting in a Rebel victory with some careful positioning.
