Been doing some painting recently, in preparation for the current chapter of the Carrion Crown. At this point of the story, the group is exploring Castle Caromarc, the apparently home of The Beast. The castle lord is mysteriously missing, and the place was being guarding by trolls, apparently intent on entering the place as well. Having the defeated the trolls, the group is now exploring the various chambers.
This brings the group to the labs, wherein they come face to face with the bane of many warriors – the rust monster. How or why they are here is still a mystery to the group, but at least a few where somewhat caught off guard by the critter’s abilities – specifically their ability to rapid rust and destroy any metal objects. They surprised the group, and managed to get the drop on both the Barbarian and Champion, doing heavy damage to the equipment before the group quickly put them down.
These particular models are from RocketSpaceBoy on Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1787697) – I trimmed off the overly thick base, printed them in resin, and added some contrast paints. Overall they came out well, though one of the three ended up losing an antennae. Definitely not a creature I use very often – I cant recall any prior time in many years, but nice to have a painted figure if only for the nostalgia.
For the group, more of an annoyance rather than any real threat, though the critters did force them forward into a far deadlier fight.
