Its been many years, but we finally managed to get together for a round of Star Wars X-Wing, using the latest version of the rules. As usual, we opted for an overly complex mission plan, with a 4v4 battle between 4 players – 2x Rebels, 1 Scum, and 1 Empire. Add to this our general lack of knowledge on the game – after several years many of the rules and specifics where foggy at best – and the game ended up running much longer than hoped. In the end, we did not complete the battle, and only a couple of ships were destroyed. But everyone came away with much better understanding for a revised squadron list.
And of course I opted to record and stream the live game, as usual on Twitch. Part of that was do to the extra challenge, part was simply because I was trying out different options with my configurations, and part was due to the new release of Davinci Resolve and wanting to try the new options. That updated video is now posted to YouTube for anyone to review – hopefully future games will be much more condensed and focused.
Hopefully will end up trying similar efforts with Legion and Armada at some point, and perhaps some of our other board games – Twilight Imperium and such.
