The scheduling for games is a bit disrupted this week due to several conflicts in calendars. No Warhammer FRP game this evening or next week, and our regular Pathfinder game this Sunday. However, in its place, we will be holding a one-shot for Call of Cthulhu, using the scenario, The Dare.
The setting is Halloween night in 1985, in a town in rural middle-America. The town itself is irrelevant since the adventure is set in an old house, rumored to be haunted. The group is a set of young kids in the 10 to 12 years age group, who have been dared by the school bully to spend the night in the old house. Will they survive, or run screaming from the adventure? We will find out on Saturday.
For characters, we are using the pre-generated ones – the group is picking from a list of only names and archetypes. As such, they do not know the skills, abilities, or any additional knowledge ahead of time. In addition, each player is tasked with determining their Halloween costume for the night (appropriate for 1985). Actual costumes or props are a bonus, and apparently some of the players are going all out.
For the cast, we have thus far:
- Jolene Bachman, the Poor Kid (played by Robin)
- Joey Delafano, the Tough (played by Thad)
- Harry Enslin, the Know It All (played by William)
- undeclared, Andy
- undeclared, Jennifer
- undeclared, Carter
Last few characters may not be declared until game time, but given the minimal prep work, that should not be a factor.
