Last week, as a filler, we ended up running a Star Wars: Legion game, which I ended up recording and then posting to YouTube. This apparently has been much more successful than our otherwise regular long-format RPG storylines. Which is fine, and not unexpected given recent trends. As such, I am looking to expand this part of my content and are looking for additional players or opportunities to play. If you have any interest, let me know when, and we can fit in a game as much as possible.
In the meantime, I am working on the construction of a dedicated game board, utilizing module tiles. The intent is a snowy Hoth playfield, with alternate terrain at higher elevations. Likely will be a few weeks – I have a lot of ideas and minimal time, plus have to gather a few of the necessary tools and supplies.
I also need to look into options for stabilizing the camera. This first game was a basic camcorder held in hand, which resulted in quite unstable footage. A second camera focused on the dice tray would have been helpful at a minimum (along with some felt for silencing the dice), and I am looking to start using a cellphone camera instead (due to the higher quality video). I also need to aquire a gimbal or some other way to stabilize the recording. Then my real concern becomes battery life – storage capacity should not be an issue, but I want to make sure the phone can last long enough for the full game session.
As for army collections and options, I have a fairly complete set these days. Only about 30% or so are painted – most are an army of grey – but that is slowly improving. Clones are partially painted by my son, and the CIS Droids are quite extensively painted. Some of the Rebels are also done, a result of our recent tournament participation, and a couple of the Imperial Stormtroopers have been touched. If anyone needs practice, plenty of opportunity there.
