Due to ongoing scheduling challenges, we have had to move around our calendar. The Extinction Curse game this last Sunday was cancelled, and the Warhammer game this week is similarly postponed. Extinction Curse will be on July 17 next, and Warhammer will hopefully resume next week on July 13. Currently, we only have the Carrion Crown Pathfinder campaign upcoming on schedule, on July 10.
In the meantime, we were able to successfully hold a second session of the Call of Cthulhu story, The Dare. With a new group, they had a lot of fun attempting to survive the night in the Barnaker House. Unfortunately, the entire group of kids ended up dying in the end, though not without plenty of excitement. All managed to pass the half-way point, but then simply ran out of stamina against the multiple threats. Video chronicle is now available on YouTube, in case you want to share in the story.
I was particularly intrigued by the fact that both groups, despite obviously different paths, ended up finishing the scenario in almost exactly the same amount of time (about 9 hours). Although the first group partially survived, they did not discover all the clues and secrets – the second group more fully explored but ended up becoming a sacrifice to the end threat.
If you are interested in the adventure details, I encourage you to purchase it thru DriveThruRPG, or reference the Seth Skorkowsky review video that first tempted me. Both are good summaries of the adventure and give suggestions on how it may be modified for the adventure.
Our first give-away is wrapping up with our Carrion Crown this weekend, with the winner scoring the painted figures of the Promethean, and a pair of Rust Monsters. Still a chance to enter, if you care to leave a comment on the latest session video on YouTube. I have giveaways lined up for at least the next few sessions, so plenty of figures and miniatures to be had.
With the success of the Cthulhu game, I have been asked to run another one-shot. This time, the adventure is headed to space, with a short scenario inspired by a combination of Aliens and Event Horizon. I won’t spoil the mysteries, but it should be a nice change of pace for the group – and perhaps some will even return home. We rarely seem to do science fiction these days, so I am eager to toss in the pseudo-science and have the group deal with hard vacuum and zero-g.
