Saturday is scheduled our second session of The Dare scenario for Call of Cthulhu, with a fresh group of victims/players. I am repeating the exact same scenario and am very curious how the new group will react or adjust to the situation – the main difference is the team are all teenagers, instead of a mix of adults and teenagers. Although they can relate to the 10–12-year age of the characters much better, they are about 20-30 years out of touch with the setting of 1985.
As always, we will be streaming the game on YouTube, several of the players from the first game are particularly curious to see the new team squirm and jump their way thru the encounters. Given the length of the first session, we are aiming for an early start, beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, and running as before until death or conclusion (or until everyone has to leave). I do suspect they will be much more organized, and they can beat the 9-hour run time of the first group. The real question is will the entire group perish in the adventure or not?
Join us for the session if you are willing, and feel free to contribute to chat during the live stream. Call of Cthulhu – The Dare, session 2
With the success of the first session, I have also had several requests for a follow-up, sequel, or simply additional one-shot. I have a few scenarios in mind, and I am starting to lay out the options, tentatively aiming for a late July time frame. Currently considering a sci-fi type of theme of some sort but keeping options open. The main change will be that characters will be using the full Cthulhu rules, and probably player generated. However, the pre-generated approach really did work well, and allowed the game to get moving without a lot of over-thinking.
