A recent acquisition for our Legion gaming is a new set of wireless microphones. The Rode Go II wireless microphones specifically, acquired thru an employee reward functionality thru work. Each of the devices is a small battery powered microphone/transmitter and a single receiver, with an estimated 5-6 hour battery life, and the receiver plugs into my audio recorder.
The first games using this new technology will likely be recorded this coming weekend and will allow for a bit more movement on the part of the players. Right now, the existing mics are tethered to a cable, and the clips are not great – meaning they fall off with some regularity or get tangled with each other.
Remains to be seen how good the audio itself is, I will be running some tests this week to determine the best settings. But the microphone combination hopefully will be much better quality than my old $10 pickups.
