Since last week, I have renewed my efforts to exercise more and try to improve my health. It’s been close to two years since I routinely exercised, and admittedly even then it was only a few miles of walking. My goal this year is to make it routine, and slowly ramp up the exertion, hopefully balancing with the rest of life and events.
To that end, since last week I have been getting up early in order to walk for a 30-minute span. It’s not excessive, and probably isn’t even that challenging for most, but it is exercise. On the weekends, since I don’t have a work schedule, I use those days for recovery (and to sleep in just a little).
As of today, I am 5 days in, and 7.5 miles in distance (walking at about 3 miles per hour each morning). Mainly for my own benefit, I will continue to post my updates as I go, as a means of self-motivation. As a reference point, I am 6′ 2″ tall, weighing in at 315 pounds, and diagnosed a pre-diabetic, working a stay-at-home job doing desk work (computer IT and management) for 8-10 hours per day.
