At this point, it appears that one of my group cameras for the RPG groups has failed, which is forcing a restructuring of my filming process. The camera is a Sony Vixia HF R800, which has served me well for the past 7 or so years, but right before game time I discovered that the sensor was only showing a rainbow pattern of static, and no video was visible thru the HDMI output. I tried a few options, but without success, and I am declaring it dead at this point.
As a result, our Warhammer FRP session is missing one angle, not a big deal – the audio is intact since that is thru a different system – but annoying for the disruption and consistency.
Most likely, I will not be replacing it due to budget constraints and will be re-arranging the other cameras to compensate. Current plan is to match both sides with the remaining cameras, and supplement with webcams for the intermediate ones. Hopefully it will be at least passable for the gaming sessions.
This fortunately does not impact our Legion and tabletop games, since those use a different set of mobile cameras for filming.
