As of this morning, our Star Wars channel has reached the 500 subscriber milestone. This is notable for several reasons, not the least of which is my simple appreciation to all our viewers. Back on February 23, we hit 300 subscribers, then on April 18 we hit 400 subscribers. Now 10 weeks later, and another 100 followers of the channel.
Up until recently, this would only be a vanity item, YouTube only really recognizes channels when they hit the full 1000+ level. However, in the last few weeks they updated their Partner Program policy to allow all channels (in select countries) that reach 500 subscribers (and a few other criteria) to apply immediately. This doesn’t unlock ad revenue, the big carrot of YouTube, but it does allow for various other smaller incentives. And for at least my own theory, it elevates the content in the algorithm by at least a bit.
Now I just need to wait a little bit for the automation at YouTube to recognize the channel’s accomplishment to start the application – something that in the past has happened within a day or two.
Thanks to all our viewers for your participation, and hears looking forward to our next milestone of 1000 subscribers.
