Related to the ongoing website changes, I have made a few fundamental changes to the website itself. Over the last many years, while this site has operated, I have only had myself as a registered member, which is fine, there really isn’t much benefit to anyone to actually register. However, I have had several hundred spam accounts created (and likely many thousands blocked from creation). As a result, to avoid that overhead, I have purged all the excess accounts and disabled registration. That should prevent the spam and keep the site running cleaner.
The obvious question is how does someone comment or leave feedback then? Functionally, that only requires the comment fields, which only requires some basic information. Anyone with a valid email can enter a comment and leave feedback. If you prefer, you can also sign your comment thru either a Facebook account or a WordPress account, though I have not really tested those options much. To reduce old conversations, I have comments disabled 14 days after a posted date of an article, but that should still be plenty of time to provide feedback. And again looking at history, I have only had a total of 10 comments in about as many years, so I don’t see this as very disruptive.
Once you leave a comment, the first time it will need to be reviewed and approved. After that, you can freely comment as desired without the delay.
I welcome your feedback and response, what works and what doesn’t, this just helps to make sure it is timely to the discussion and avoid the bots filling up the threads.
