Months ago, I posted a video or two I titled “Behind the Brush” – short demonstrations and examples of the painting techniques I used. Very primitive and basic but accomplished their simple goal. However, they didn’t get much traction, I suspect mainly because they were so basic.

With my recent efforts to do more talking to the camera type content, and my ongoing efforts to make a dent in the painting backlog, I have decided to restart this effort, but in a new form. Using my new camera, my intent is to do a live-stream painting session and behind the scenes discussion. Join the chat, ask your questions, and let’s start a conversation. Easy enough to paint along to work your own models as well, most of my techniques are not that advanced.

My intent is to be interactive, and collaborative. If you have a suggestion, I am willing to try it, or just generally chat. And the videos may serve as inspiration for others to dive into their own painting pile of shame.

By nature, it will be a fairly random schedule, based on my own availability. I tend to dedicate an evening or a day to painting when my schedule allows, rather than have a fixed time each week. I also have no plans on what specifically I will be painting but will try to publicize as early as possible. Certainly, new releases are my priority, but I have quite a few miscellaneous pieces that I never started or finished.

My first set will be basic Imperial Stormtroopers – I am working on 3d printing a couple of squads to bulk up Empire forces and acquired the very nice set of “Desert Troopers” from Jandro Marquez, to include both specialist bundles. This allows me to print full squads, as well as additional Specialist units to fill out the squad options I already have. One unit is completely printed and primed already; the second squad is working currently. Fingers crossed; Wednesday will be the painting time before our next Legion game scheduled for Thursday.
