Viewport video content

Over the past month or so, I have been trying to get into the habit and practice of posting a weekly video blog style video, going over some behind the scenes stories and covering recent and future activities. This has been evolving each time and is a good way for me to practice speaking to the camera. However, I opted to publish these to my Roleplaying channel, which wasn’t really a good match. Admittedly the Star Wars channel wasn’t a good option either, so I expected my first choice to be the least disruptive.

Functionally, as I understand it, the YouTube algorithm focuses on topic targeting. If you post a video, it attempts to guess and predict the best audience. Star Wars Battle Reports are shared with viewers who have liked battle reports, or have liked Star Wars, or have viewed similar topics. The same would go with Roleplay live-play sessions – if you like one, YouTube suspects you might like others. However, either choice does not necessarily imply you will like video blog style content, it’s a different subject entirely, though obviously I talk about similar items.

To that end, I made the decision to split it out again, and form up a 3rd channel, devoted to this Viewport videos. I went thru and reposted all of the content, they are all available now, though of course I lost the minimal view counts from each in the transition. I also cleared out the old videos on the Roleplay channel, to avoid confusion. In the process, I have updated all the various links and connections from the other channels so it can be found.

These videos are a general chat session and discussion – what we are doing, what we are planning, and some more details behind the scenes. I always strive to keep the topic non-political but can’t say it won’t be controversial. In particular, I have been gathering my thoughts on recent Star Wars media (TV, Movies), and the announcements from AMG on the cancellation of Armada and X-Wing. Unknown yet if I will end up making a video, but the short answer is that my interest in Star Wars has not been diminished.

If you are part of the prior small audience, I invite you to join us at the new channel (and certainly like and subscribe if you are willing). This may or may not survive long term, depending on my motivation and schedule, but at least for now there are plans and inspiration.
