As a hobbyist, I have learned quite a bit over time about how to best utilize, tune, upgrade, and adjust my 3d Printer. In my case, my current machine is a Monoprice Maker Select Plus (rebranded from a Wanhao Maker Select Plus). Currently, it is available on Amazon at https://amzn.to/2Ov9AsH ($349 as of 9/17/2018).
This printer has a heated bed and a print volume of 200mm x 200mm x 180 mm in height. It is a very common printer, which means there are lots of options for upgrades and enhancements both in free print designs or purchasable upgrades.
For Slicer software, my current choice is Cura 3.4.1, with a customize printer profile. For the printer, I run a RaspberryPi, loaded with OctoPrint for both management and print queueing.
Below you will find a subset of articles I have put together, mainly for my own reference, but also in case it can be found to be useful for any visitors.
