Haven’t posted updates on our campaigns in a bit, but several are still ongoing and moving forward. One of our regulars is our Pathfinder Kingmaker campaign, with the group currently trying to keep their kingdom operational, while dealing with Troll raids, in the Rivers Run Red chapter.

In recent events, we are making a solid effort to use both the full Kingdom rules, as well as the camping mechanics – both are proving challenging. The concepts are decent, it’s the implementation that is hard. The basic system is really process and number based and breaks the roleplaying immersion of the story. It is also rather complex and takes the group some time before they can remember all the gains and losses, each time we return to the system at the end of each story month.

Various Foundry modules assist with this, it has gotten better. I am just not so sure how much it helps the story, versus slows things down. I do believe it brings value, and if used frequently, the mechanical aspects become simpler, but the group just doesn’t use it often enough to reach that point.

I do see direct value from the addons though, if only because they help track the status and notes – which in turn helps fill in the story as needed with the country specifics.

Most recent episode posts this Friday, join in with the adventure as the group continues in the Stolen Lands.

We are currently using the “PF2e Kingmaker Tools” addon for the tracking (pf2e-kingmaker-tools).
