• Two-Headed Serpent (Call of Cthulhu Pulp) Chapter 1, Bolivia, Part 1

The year is 1933, and a group of adventurers is dispatched to Bolivia to a medical aid station. Along the way, a mystery begins to unfold as they perform a recovery operation under the direction of the Caduceus Foundation. This is the start of a new Live Play RPG campaign, with the group of 7 investigators braving the horrors of Call of Cthulhu, in high adventure using the Pulp Cthulhu rules. Each Chapter is being run as a one or two day long session, with the material then broken out as it makes sense. Between each chapter, the schedule will…

  • Kingmaker, Cult of the Bloom

Our group kicks off Chapter 4 of the Kingmaker campaign, with a shorter session (due to shopping and leveling processes). Fresh from their victory against the trolls, the group is now facing a new threat in the form of a monstrous Owlbear that threatens and has attacked their capital. They are tasked with tracking the beast, and insuring that it no longer threatens the citizenry. This is also our first session running on the new Foundry v13 software, which brought it own challenges and issues. I expect these will be sorted out soon, but there was some technical challenges with…

  • The Horned Rat – Completed

Its been a long chapter, with chapter 5 of the Enemy Within Campaign. After 54 game sessions spanning more than a year of calendar time, the group has finished that section of the story, and the chronicle is published. At about 3-4 hours per session, it comes out to a significant amount of game time for the content. Admittedly our group is fond of sidetracks and subquests, but quite a bit of the extended “official” content was skipped or missed. I won’t spoil the ending, but the fate of the Empire has likely been changed forever in our story. Some…

  • Fresh Investigators

With our kickoff character session today, we have a fresh set of Investigators ready for the upcoming Call of Cthulhu Pulp Cthulhu campaign. My process is simple, each player develops a concept and an AI image of their character. They then select a 3d printed miniature for their character, which I will then paint up, ready for the first game. The models were pre-printed before the session, with 25 options to choose from. I spent this evening painting up the first 3, which came out pretty decent. For each, there is a definite similarity to the inspiration picture. That leaves…

  • Kingmaker, Chapter 3 Conclusion

We finally wrapped up Chapter 3 (Rivers Run Red) of our Kingmaker campaign with this last session, with a challenging fight against the massed forces of Hargulka. In the prior session, the group had recovered, and managed to stealth their way into the upper reaches of the old fort. However, they had been discovered by a two-headed troll right at the end of the session. This time, that fight begins, and rapidly escalates as alarms are raised and defenders rush to engage. Very quickly, the group found themselves mostly cut off and trapped, and the full strength of the foes…

  • The Call of Cthulhu

We are kicking off a new campaign this coming weekend with a session 0 character building session for Call of Cthulhu. For the past many weeks, I have been prepping a Pulp Cthulhu campaign, and I am eager to get started. This will be the first opportunity for all the players to come together with concepts and fully develop their respective hero. The story is following the Two-Headed Serpent campaign, published in 2017 by Chaosium Inc, and written by Paul Fricker, Scott Dorward, and Matthew Sanderson. The story tells the tale of a group of adventurers, recruited by a benevolent…

  • Dwarf Treasure Hunters for Mordheim

I posted my final video for the Dwarf Treasure Hunters series today, it should be live tomorrow for everyone, for the small audience that is interested. This was a mini project of 6 models, and an attempt to figure out a process for painting demonstrations. Overall, I am fairly happy with the results. The content is generally clean, the painting is decent, and I managed to streamline the process. I also noticed an improvement in my detail, especially as I experimented with more techniques. As a side benefit, this is also a form of content I can make on my…

  • Fixing the Anycubic Kobra 2 Max

Sometime last year, I acquired the large-format 3d printer from Anycubic, the Kobra 2 Max. The intent was for large prints, jobs that I couldn’t handle on my aging Prusa MK3s. With a build volume of 420x420mm, this handles about 4x the volume. The hope was further efforts with life-size droids, perhaps some cos-play helmets, large terrain pieces, etc, and just an ability to print a bit faster. However, that rapidly hit a snag as a result of the general build quality of the Kobra 2. Its fast and its large, that part is great. It is not reliable or…
