• Mordheim 003 – Carnival of Chaos vs Bretonnia

This was a rather short battle between the two warbands, heavily favoring one side due to the mission conditions. However, as is normal in Mordheim, it isn’t the victory in the battle that makes the difference, but how much your warband can gain during and after the fight.

  • The Enemy Within (Warhammer FRP) 5.44

Our group finally reaches the military picket line, protecting the realm from the chaotic forces of the Brass Keep, but are rather concerned about the state of affairs. Although the leadership accepts their presence, the group is restricted to the camp, and forbidden from exploration beyond the lines, leading to some investigation within the camps. A few new plots and mysteries are discovered, but before much detail can be determined, events to unfold. From the Brass Keep, world-changing events are started, changing the direction and urgency of the group. Of note, we are slightly altering the house rules again, specifically…

  • Kingmaker (Pathfinder 2e) 3-07

Our latest Kingmaker session sees the group turning their attention to the west, and the growing Troll threat. For the past several months of storyline, Trolls have been raiding outlying regions, killing and disrupting the fledgling kingdom. Our heroes opted to ignore the problem, and spent quite a bit of time to the east, surveying and exploring plains and farmlands, while the threat grew. As they travel to the west, new threats are discovered, and some challenges are avoided, before the group manages to bite off a bit more than they can handle. Plans fall apart, and the kingdom ends…

  • We have been having challenges with our wargaming schedule, with challenges finding time to play. As a result, our Legion and Bolt Action content has suffered a bit. Mordheim seems to be much of the focus currently, and I finally have a format that I have settled on, which should make the content a bit more consistent. Tomorrow, we have another Mordheim battle report being posted, a battle between the Carnival of Chaos and the Bretonnians. It is a short battle – the mission was a Breakthrough – which obviously the mounted Bretonnian knights had a solid advantage. I have…

  • Kingdom Phase

As part of our ongoing Pathfinder Kingmaker campaign, I have been making an effort to use fully the including meta-game Kingdom rules. These thus far have proven problematic at best, though I understand the intent. I feel strongly though that with this campaign, we want to experience all the subsystems, which hopefully will have a pay off later in the story. Generally, they break the momentum of the campaign. The group will be adventuring, and then every few sessions we turn to bookkeeping and accounting with an entirely supplemental system. Obviously, this is meant to simulate the management of a…

  • Mordheim Battle Report

It isn’t a Star Wars Legion or Bolt Action report, but it is a battle report – fresh from the ruins of Mordheim. The Carnival of Chaos takes on the Skaven swarm in a Skirmish battle. Both sides fought hard, with quite a few casualties on both sides, before victory was determined. Mordheim is nice due to the fast pace of the game, but it is a challenge to record and edit due to the intermixed phases of each activation. Our format is evolving still, and I did some graphics improvements in the video. Hopefully it flows a bit better…

  • Mastodon removal

In a recent posting, I mentioned that my self-hosted Mastodon site was offline again, following yet another attempted (and failed) upgrade. This software has proven to be very challenging to keep stable and operational. Once it is running, it is great. But every time I have tried to update it due to patches or security releases, it has failed and had to be rebuilt. This ends up losing all the history, and I have to recreate accounts. End result is I waste a lot of time. Over the last couple of years I have been making the attempt, literally no…

  • Wargame content update

Regular followers may have noticed a significant drop off in the amount of wargaming content I have been posting, especially in the Legion arena. This is not due to a lack of interest – I have lots of models, terrain, and motivation. Unfortunately however, all these games require at least one other player, and availability has been very limited recently. Life tends to get in the way of a regular schedule. To that end, I will refer you to our published calendar – I post any scheduled games and events. This is mainly for our group’s awareness (it links into…
