Haven’t posted in a few days, thanks to a busy work schedule, editing schedule, and US holidays. With our most recent battle report, we managed to show off our recently painted terrain – I have been spending some evenings catching up on the old sets and pieces so that we can actually use them in games. First up is the Wrecked AT-ST set, a single solid piece, and a nice common terrain piece for gaming. Stones are a combination of sandy yellow, red and brown washes, and a heavy grey drybrush. The soil is a layer of contrast paint, and…

The latest expansion to the Star Wars Legion game came out on Friday, with the Inquisitors, Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister. As is typical, I acquired a set of the models, and set about prepping them for use in our games. Fortunately, both figures have a fairly basic paint scheme, so this did not really take very long with contrast paints – they were assembled on Friday, painted on Saturday, ready for gaming on Sunday. We will be filming new battle reports in the next few weeks, and will no doubt include the operatives, to try out their abilities. Personally,…

Our latest battle report is currently processing in the YouTube engine and should be available later this morning for all Supporters (or Friday for everyone else). If you care to support our efforts, consider Joining on YouTube for early access and a few other perks. This one brings us to 73 battle reports in the collection, with more on the way. YouTube Collection This battle has Craig with the Empire take on my Separatist force. Craig is playing a Vader list, and a combination I likely would have used myself – making me rather intimidated with the fairly fragile CIS…

Now that our second Pathfinder campaign is wrapped up, we turn our attention to the start of our proposed Traveller/Shadowrun combo game. The setting is the Traveller universe – it is well developed and expansive and grounded enough in reality to have a reasonable awareness by the group. Plus, we can limit the exploration rate naturally, so that the players are not overwhelmed. To this, we are using the Shadowrun 6th edition rules mechanics, though after our play testing, it will likely utilize a few hold overs from Shadowrun 5 – most notably in the implementation of Edge and the…

After 3 years, we have wrapped up the Carrion Crown TTRPG campaign. We started this storyline back in the summer of 2021, and finished the conclusion yesterday in March 2024. 52 sessions of adventure, at approximately 5 hours per session, bringing the total to just under 200 hours of entertainment and content. I was going to upload a master edit with the full content, but apparently YouTube limits videos to 12 hours. Instead, the playlist will remain available (Carrion Crown). This campaign was originally published by Paizo as a 1st edition Pathfinder campaign, for this run, we converted on the…

After having played Twilight Imperium the last few years, we were looking for something new to play, to break up the pattern. After some debate, we settled on Axis and Allies as a long-format game for many players (currently aiming at 9). And of course, since we don’t do much small, I opted for the full global experience of combining the 2nd edition of the Europe and Pacific games into the Global version. I have played versions of the game way back in High School, and always wanted to try a long format event. This was decided back at the…

At long last, we officially kicked off our Mordheim efforts, revisiting a game that hasn’t seen action in 25 years. Mordheim was published by Games Workshop back near 2000, and very popular with our group, but went out of print after a few years. Recently, there has been a surge of interest, and with the promise of fully painted warbands, the new generation group has been working to start playing again. On Friday, we managed to get started, with two fully painted forces – George’s Undead warband vs Craig’s Skaven warband. We also played a number of other “official” games,…

Had a bit of inspiration yesterday and have been working to revise my previous paint storage rack. The prior design was workable – I have several on my desk currently. However, it was based around 1/8″ plywood, and rather finicky to assemble. As one of my earlier laser cutting designs, I would say it was “primitive”. But the plans are available on Etsy, and it is a functional piece. Since then, I have more experience with the laser, and can easily cut 1/4″ MDF core Maple, which is much stronger, more consistent, and just better quality. Perhaps a bit more…
