Another round of cosmetic changes to the site, I was still not satified with the prior layout. This is now using the standard “2024” template that comes with WordPress, and my ability to learn/adapt to the new Block-styling format is improving. If you notice anything that looks strange, let me know, it might be stable now for the time being. In the meantime, I am turning my attention to our ongoing gaming activities. Star Wars Legion continues strong, we wrapped up the Battle for the Golden Vader tournament and now we are returning to more standard battles. New format being…

Last Friday, the new Geonosian expansions for Star Wars Legion were released, and as a challenge, the family inspired me to acquire and paint the figures before the end of the weekend. Challenge accepted, the painting wasn’t really that difficult, though I admittedly cut several corners. The harder part was assembly, the models are multiple parts, and are about as difficult and detailed as the B1 Battle Droid kits. Overall, I am satisfied with the results – they won’t win any competitions, but they are very much table-ready which is all that our group really cares about. Specific paints and…

A lot of new content publishing to YouTube tomorrow, with the first part of our Legion tournament finale (Empire vs Rebels). This ended up being a 3v3 1800 point mega-battle, so we are breaking it into multiple sessions due to the length. Rounds 1 and 2 will be available tomorrow. New sessions of both Warhammer and Pathfinder will be available as well, as we resume both campaigns. In Pathfinder, the group is rapidly approaching the conclusion of the Carrion Crown campaign, if they can survive the last few challenges. In Warhammer, the group plots within Middenheim are reaching their climax,…

We resume our Carrion Crown Pathfinder 2e Campaign this week, with the group continuing on their collision course with the Whispering Way. They are currently struggling their way thru the ruins and catacombs of Renfield Cathedral, facing a deadline of undead, while struggling with dwindling resources (and party members). Current schedule looks to be 5 or so more sessions before this long campaign is finally wrapped up, which will be the 3rd overall Paizo campaign our groups have completed from start to finish.

Still not happy with the overall appearance and layout of the theme of the site, so you will likely see a few changes happening over the next few weeks when I have time to research. If you have a suggestion for a theme, let me know. Thus far, everything feels either overly complex, far too basic, or just very busy. Hard to find a balance between what I want to publish, the graphics, and the usability.

Solved another problem with the new WordPress implementation – permalinks are now functional again. Everything I found only kept pointing me to reset the .htaccess file, which functionally was irrelevant (but likely viable in a different case. For my issue, the specific problem was that pretty permalinks was broken, but basic permalinks worked fine. The solution was actually an Apache issue – when I enabled SSL, I used a bare bones configuration for the sites-available file. In my case, I needed to add the <Directory> directive to the SSL virtual host (it existed only in the non-SSL virtual host. Specifically,…

Discovered the site was having multiple issues post migration, including a failure of the SSL system and numerous graphics links being off. Those appear to be corrected now, I have fixed the SSL certificates, and with a bit of tinkering updated the various links and media files. Mastodon still is offline, I failed to recognize the inability to run multiple servers from the same public IP, so I have to do some re-organization of that service before it can be accessible to the internet again.

I believe I have successfully completed a full site migration, to move off of my prior hosting service. Since the website doesn’t get a lot of traffic, a self-hosted option is more economical. I am hopeful everything has been caught, but if you notice anything missing or non-functional, please let me know. SSL certificates will be re-established shortly, and performance will improve in the next couple of days with some hardware increases. Functionally, I have until January 8 to confirm everything, before my old account is wiped.
