Wanted to highlight some of my son’s efforts, as well as my own. While I have been busy painting up Rebels for Legion, he has been working on technique and practise with a collection of Galactic Republic Clones. We will both be participating in the upcoming skirmish league, so have motivation to finalize our painting. I honestly don’t know the reference he is using for the colors, though I know it is based on the Clone Wars shows. With some advice, his process is fairly straight forward – a wash of dark grey and a heavy drybrush of white. This…

Grinding thru the painting for my skirmish league army, and just about done with the various troopers. The final large project is the A-A5 Speeder Truck, shown here with an optional extra print of a Gonk Droid (unofficial). Our standard design includes the gonk droid upgrade (to provide shields), so I wanted to add him in to the interior for humor. Obviously, he won’t be visible during the game (maybe will have him peeking out the door), but the top of the vehicle will remain removable for curiosity. Parts are all primed and ready to go, base is already textured.…

Finally managed to get back to our Carrion Crown campaign yesterday and had a fairly successful stream session. Video is now working again, audio is solid, and the tools were pretty much on autopilot. There is a challenge remaining with Discord – I am trying to record both the output and allow the group to hear the voice (since some players are live, and some are remote). This leads to a notable echo on the recording, which is fortunately only for the occasional player. Going to try an alternative approach next time, and see if that resolves the issue. For…

Continuing with the painting theme, I finally finished up a model I have had for a very long time – the Rebel Landspeeder. This is one of my first Legion units, back when I first started collecting, and one I was very interested in painting. But I never really had a strong vision for it, especially with the coloration of the crew. Now that I am focused on my Rebels, and have settled on a Desert Camo pallet, this was a much easier decision. I do still want to add a bit more detail or interest to the base, and…

Second stage of painting, continuing my units of Rebel Troopers and Veterans. I also tackled Jyn Erso and an R5 astromech droid, all necessary for my current skirmish force. In the process, I discovered that one unit I thought I had, I actually did not – the Rebel Commandos were apparently hiding better than I thought. For this pass, most of the figures received the skin tone, plus highlights for under shirts, along with some touch ups. Mainly for ease during the game, I separated from the color scheme to highlight the helmets per unit color, with units with red,…

Continuing my painting efforts, and working on a mass set of Rebel troopers and veterans. First set is one of the Trooper units, but I painted up 20+ figures at the same time for consistency. Color scheme is going with my Desert camo style, to match the intended desert bases, so the uniforms are a shade of Skeleton Horde with Snakebite Leather for the boots and straps, and Black Templar for the weapons and gear. The next layers will be the shirts and skin, along with some other details. Planning to color coordinate each unit, likely with a stripe on…

Been noticing that my YouTube banners for upcoming streams is rather lacking, being just a snapshot of the credits screen. I am definitely not a graphics designer – my artistic skill level is far more engineering based than artistic. However, a boring banner makes for very little interest. Since I can’t really provide a snapshot from the stream before the stream happens, I am trying to liven it up a bit with more color. As such, I reworked the banner somewhat into the shown graphic. This I can update easily for the episode number, and really highlights the actual group.…

Considering signing up for a local Star Wars Legion tournament using Skirmish mechanics and getting out to try some competitive wargames. Never actually have tried this before, beyond friends and family, so a bit of a stretch for me. Of course, I am opting to go entirely new, and play a Rebel army instead of my almost fully painting Separatists – but that will give me motivation to paint more models (painting is optional to play). The event is being held at our local gaming store, Epic Loot Games, as a 6-week competition. Each week, players will be emailed their…
